Our medical team from New Jersey arrived on Monday. Everything is going well. We had 2 days providing vaccinations and well child checkups in the small remote village of Guioton yesterday and today. Our efforts were slowed yesterday by the rain but today children and families were out. We saw 115 and vaccinated 75% of those children. Some had already had government vaccinations which we were happy to hear.
Our volunteers have been working with our Haitian staff, the medical students learning from our Haitian Physician and our health workers learning from the Pediatricians on the team.
We’ve had informative evening sessions with presentations by the students on the team, with discussions of local disease patterns as well.
Off to Momben tomorrow for more paediatric assessments.
